Coaching

Helping you move from feeling stuck and uncertain about your future to confident, empowered and thriving in your author career by overcoming challenges and rebuilding your professional momentum.

If you’ve found me here do you recognise yourself in the following?

You’ve worked so hard to become a published author.

You’re passionate about your writing and want to make an impact with your books.

This is your career and you want it to succeed, and continue.

On one hand everything looks great on paper.

Youve made it. Youre a published author, several times over.

Youve had the excitement of launches, reader reviews, maybe events and media splashes, youve seen your books in store. Youve got a publisher and an agent.

This is what you worked so hard for.

Youve built the author career that a few years ago you were just dreaming of.

But something doesnt feel right.

You hadnt realised it would feel so hard at this point.

There are things that feel really difficult but youre worried about sharing them with anyone.

It might be that youre worried about attention moving from you to the seemingly exciting new debut authors, that the retailers might stop stocking your books, that all that youve built could suddenly end at any moment and be taken away. Maybe theres been a change in your team which has been unsettling, or your sales have been disappointing.

Combine these worries with the pressure to write more books, and not just any books but books that will also take away all of these concerns and its no wonder that you feel lost.

Or do you recognise yourself here

Maybe your confidence is slowly ebbing away making it incredibly hard to focus on your next book.

Maybe you are so worried that you have to do everything that is asked of you you take on more and more things that are asked of you and start to feel like youre heading towards burnout.

Maybe you feel lonely with only your inner critic chipping away at you to keep you company.

There might be things that you could talk to your editor and/or agent about, but you are really worried about rocking the boat and drawing attention to your concerns when you want them to believe in you.

My guess is that this is also beginning to impact your wider life and wellbeing.

This is why I’ve created The Confident

and Renewed Author Experience

This is my signature coaching programme and designed to help established authors who are struggling in their careers to overcome challenges, regain their confidence, and thrive in their writing careers.

I want you to feel empowered, positive, confident and that you have agency and influence and are not a passive participant in your own career.

I want you to feel energised, creative and thriving so you are excited by your career and your future.

I want you to feel in control, balanced and feeling good and positive.

How it works:

This is a 6 session package giving you three months of focused support tailored entirely to your own unique challenges and objectives.

Together we will cover a mix of:

The Big Picture – Getting really clear on what your challenges are and what your future goals are

Fact or Fiction – Leaning into your worries and concerns and making a plan to overcome them

Rediscovering the joy – Remembering why you write and falling in love with it again

Crafting a plan – Time management, consistency, positive habits

Building your resilience toolkit – So you know you can handle and weather the challenges and knock-backs that come up

Stepping into being CEO of your author career – Empowering you to take charge of this next stage of your author journey

The sessions are fully tailored to meet your needs.

Our first session is 90 minutes to get really clear on what your challenges are and what you want to change.

The other sessions are an hour long.  All sessions are via zoom unless you happen to live near me and would prefer in person.

Practical next steps are agreed at the end of each sessions with a high level of accountability.

Stay connected in between sessions via WhatsApp coaching support if needed.

The investment

The investment for this package is £750.

*After 6 sessions, if you want continued support, it is possible to continue with me on a session by session basis

Are you at another stage of your publishing journey but still needing support?

I’ve worked with authors at all stages including authors who are not yet signed, or signed but not published, or in the early stage of their careers. Whatever stage you’re at my support is available if that is what you need.

My coaching is always tailored to your individual needs and challenges. If you want to find out more then lets have a chat. Its very informal, we can talk about your situation and you can ask any questions you have about working with me.

The Quick Author Breakthrough

I do believe that coaching gives you the best results when we work over a series of sessions so you have time to get really deep on your challenges, process and implement the insights and benefit from the accountability I offer BUT I do realise that sometimes you just need help on one quick problem, or maybe you’re new to coaching and would like to experience its impact before committing to a longer programme.

If so, the Quick Author Breakthrough is designed for you.

This session is 90 minutes long so we can get clear on your challenge and help you find some tangible solutions to put in place straight away.

Some examples of what this session could be used to work through:

  • How to come back from a rejection

  • Talking through your options on a problem, or a decision you need to make

  • A dilemma you’re facing

  • A confidence boost ahead of a submission, or an event that is making you nervous

*If you have a quick author breakthrough l call with me and decide you would like to continue working with me, I will deduct the cost of this session from my programme cost.

The publishing industry can be a particularly tough arena, and so much of the work is done completely alone and in silence. However, having Kelly (someone who knows and understands the industry) to talk to immediately made everything seem lighter, and the anxiety I had around it started to ease. Working through worries together meant that I could share all my concerns openly and in doing so, it became clearer how to effectively manage each stage of the process. I feel confident now in pursuing my goals, knowing that there’s always a solution, and that if I’m struggling in publishing there’s always someone I can speak to.

Emma Steele, Author of Echoes of Us

I turned to Kelly during a difficult moment in my career when for various reasons – both personal and professional – I found myself lacking focus and feeling like my best achievements were behind me.

Over a series of weeks, Kelly worked with me as a coach and mentor to establish a more positive and productive mindset.

The work we have done together has transformed my creative output and self-confidence. Kelly has given me tools to help me quiet that voice of doubt in the back of my head and encouraged not just healthier work patterns, but wider life habits that I know I will use in the future.

Kelly is a calm, kind and skilful coach who really does bring out the best in people. If you are struggling with confidence, direction or motivation I can highly recommend her.

Hannah Richell, Author of The Search Party

The challenge of writing that debut novel is so celebrated they make movies and write books about it. But far fewer people are aware of the task that comes after the first flush has worn off. How do you maintain a career, book after book? Curiously enough, there isnt a manual for that. Which is where Kelly Weekes comes in. Her innovative approach to coaching is for any author feeling adrift in their career. The course is focused, effective, and comes from a place of experience and empathy. Kellys guidance was pivotal in reshaping my perspective and was exactly what I needed to get a clear picture of where I want to go.

Children’s Author

I approached Kelly for help with imposter syndrome”.

After 25 years in my career, I had lost confidence in my abilities and was floundering. I desperately needed a metaphorical kick up the behind”.

From the beginning, Kellys professionalism and thoughtfulness shone through. Having felt very isolated during lockdown, I blurted out some heavy stuff in our first session but Kelly took my revelations in her stride and would later come back with some great insight into how they might be holding me back.

Kelly made some wonderful suggestions as to how I could move forward and I feel that our sessions have left me with a valuable toolkit to make the changes I need.

I feel empowered and energised by Kellys support and would happily recommend her help to anyone looking to break bad thought habits or make great leaps.

“Kelly Weekes is more than a marketing mentor; she is an avid supporter of your work and she wants you to achieve your goals.

Kelly takes the time to get to know her clients, their personalities, and thinks of ways to help them represent themselves in a way that is true to them; working with her is a wonderfully empowering experience.”

Nadia Wassef

Author of CHRONICLES OF A CAIRO BOOKSELLER

“Kelly helped me on the launch of my first novel “The Curious Rise of Alex Lazarus” and was a delight to work with her.

She is very knowledgeable (and wise!) on all aspects of digital marketing and a brilliant and creative guide in formulating and executing a strategy. She is organised, a brilliant communicator and above all an amazing coach and cheerleader. I could not recommend her highly enough.”
